Allow me to first congratulate the candidates who will represent GPS in the 12th Sarawak state election.
You have been handpicked by Sarawak Chief Minister, YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr.) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg in consultation with the party leaders. That, is a great honour.
The call to service is indeed a noble one. To serve demands the deepest of convictions, an unshakeable integrity, selfless sacrifice, and a purity of the soul that transcends race, creed, colour or religion.
You are here to serve Sarawak and the people.
It is my fervent hope that you will be the torch bearer for GPS and continue our legacy of serving the people of Sarawak.
The task that lies before each and every one of you is daunting. It is a huge responsibility, one that must be carried out without fear or favour and with fairness and justice for all.
In you, the Chief Minister and the party leaders see the best that this great state has to offer. You represent our best and brightest, our greatest hopes for what we want Sarawak to become.
In you, lies all that is good, the ideals and aspirations of this blessed state. To betray that trust, would only to do great harm to the Sarawak that we all love.
The Chief Minister’s vision for Sarawak is comprehensive and inclusive. At the forefront is the socio-economic development of Sarawak, and her people, you are that instrument of change, and as such, your task – of serving the rakyat – will be huge.
Lastly, on the campaign trail, let us remember to always conduct ourselves with pride and honour, so that in your victory, you will be worthy of the title, ‘Yang Berhormat’. I wish you all, the best of luck.
Meanwhile, to the aspirants and incumbent who are not nominated and incumbents who voluntarily stepping aside to make way for new blood, do not ever feel that your are not important to the party.
There are many ways that we can work together, in the spirit of solidarity, to help and support our comrades who will be contesting in the Sarawak State Election that will take place on 18 December.
